It's incredible to look at all of the hit manga & anime that have come out over the past two decades and out of all of the franchises, it's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure that remains one of the most groundbreaking and adventurous.

Hirohiko Araki's series has been split into eight different parts, all of which reflect a piece of the larger puzzle devoted to the Joestar family. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is already a classic, but it can be a little daunting for some to jump into without knowing some of the basics of the series.

10/10 It's Too Soon To Know About A Part 9

JoJo Bizarre Adventure Jojolion Cast

One of the most unique aspects of Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is that each new season ostensibly tells an entirely new story. The latest installment, Part 8's Jojolion, is now the longest in the series and Hirohiko Araki has been writing it for nearly a decade. Many thought that Part 8 would be the end of the series due to its scope, but that's never been officially stated. At this point, it's not even clear how close Jojolion is to its conclusion and it may have a lot more content ahead.

9/10 Dracula & Fist Of The North Star Inspired The Start Of The Series

Anime JoJo Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood Vampire DIO

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has evolved in a lot of ways from where it began, but it makes a lot of sense to learn that the classic action anime, Fist of the North Star, along with Dracula, were the dominant influences on Phantom Blood, Part 1 of the series. The whole Stone Mask and Dio becoming a vampire connects with this and the character models are even reminiscent of Fist of the North Star. Araki wanted to go so far as to turn Stardust Crusaders into a modern retelling of Dracula, but his plans ultimately changed.

8/10 The Anime's Ending Songs Are All Personal Favorites Of Araki

Music is a very big influence on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which becomes clear with how the majority of characters and nearly every Stand are named after a musical artist or album. It's a very fun quality to the series and it manages to make the crazy visuals & action sequences become even more ridiculous.

Music is also important in the JoJo anime is also very important and each season has a different American song featured during the end credits. All of these selections are actually Araki's favorites from his personal collection.

7/10 Part 3 Was Supposed To Be The Ending

JoJo Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders DIO Versus Jotaro Stands

All of the chapters of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are connected in their own way, but some of those connections are more superfluous than others. There's no denying that the first three installments of the series are the most tied together and really tell one big story. This is because Araki initially envisioned the series as a trilogy and Stardust Crusaders was meant to be the concluding chapter. This is why DIO finally meets his end. The wild popularity of the manga convinced Araki to continue on, but it's also why the villains then progress to new and different dangers.

6/10 Part 4's Morioh Is Based On Araki's Hometown, Sendai

Anime JoJo Bizarre Adventure Diamond Is Unbreakable Morioh Landscape

Most anime are set in Japan, so it's exciting when a series chooses to be set somewhere else in the world. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure really indulges in this and while some of it is set in Japan, it's a story that begins in England and also moves to Italy and Florida. Diamond is Unbreakable is the first installment set in a fictional location. Morioh is in Japan, but it's not a real place. However, it is based on Araki's hometown of Sendai. Sendai is located in the Miyagi Prefecture and Morioh is located in S City within the M Prefecture.

5/10 There Are A Lot Of Spin-Offs

Anime JoJo Bizarre Adventure Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe OVA Treadmill

The JoJo Bizarre's Adventure has been able to go on for decades and tell some very diverse stories, but it's managed to indulge in supplemental material in ways that's a little different than other anime.

Rather than turn out a bunch of original stories through feature films, there have been a number of JoJo spin-off manga and light novels that continue many characters stories in fascinating ways. The most famous example is Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe, which has gone on to be animated as a series of OVAs.

4/10 All Five Anime Seasons Have Been Dubbed

JoJo Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Piranha Stand Giorno

There are many anime and manga series that become incredibly popular, but some people are reluctant to check them out because there's not a dubbed version that's readily available. Despite how JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a very strange series with a unique take on the action genre, it's managed to not only be dubbed, but also routinely air on Adult Swim's Toonami block. The first five parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure have been made into anime and all of them have dubs. Hopefully it will only be a matter of time before a Stone Ocean anime is announced.

3/10 The Timeline Is Rebooted In Part 7

Manga JoJo Bizarre Adventure Steel Ball Run Finish Line

It's a lot of fun to see how the first six parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure successfully juggle the many different pieces and characters of this generational story. That being said, that can also create a series that's intimidating to outsiders who haven't been there from the start. A major event happens at the end of Part 6 that essentially restarts the JoJo universe. Part 7's Steel Ball Run is a completely unique story and the same is true for Part 8. They're great entry points into the series as a result.

2/10 The Series Chronicles The Extended Joestar Lineage

JoJo Bizarre Adventure Joestar Extended Family Boat

There are plenty of anime that have been running for decades, continuing to tell the same epic story. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure technically does this too, but it employs a unique approach that allows each new installment in the series to share a connection through different generations of the Joestar family. Some seasons may feel more disconnected than others and are set in diverse locations like Italy, England, and Florida, but the connective thread is always that it looks at a different "JoJo" who has to step up to the plate and become a reluctant hero.

1/10 Stardust Crusaders Is Inspired By Board Games & Around The World In 80 Days

JoJo Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders DIO Castle Egypt

Every season of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure gets a lot of fans and has their own respective champions, but Stardust Crusaders is considered to be a real turning point & it's the longest chapter of the lot when it comes to the anime. Stardust Crusaders introduces some memorable characters, but it has a very nomad-like quality as the characters traverse the expanse of Egypt. Araki was inspired by Around the World in 80 Days for this aesthetic, but also the move-and-stop quality of board games. The Stardust Crusaders team always have to make pit stops and deal with new threats.
